Fine motor activities to do at home

In Early Years, we practise fine motor skills daily which helps to provide coordination between the thumbs and fingers. Doing activities like those below regularly helps children's stamina for holding a pencil, aids pencil control and improves manual dexterity.

Gross motor skills, like rolling over and sitting up, should be carried out to further improve fine motor skills as developing these muscles helps to support smaller movements.
