Another busy week for Seals! We have all been trying to create effective setting descriptions of a Stone Age cave for our unaided narratives. We have loved reading and sharing our stories. One of our favourite openers is below:
“In the blink of an eye, the mysterious boy stepped slowly inside the inky cave. An icy shiver shot down his neck and the hairs on his arms stood rigid like soldiers in an army. Dripping water echoed all around.” Wow!
In Science the class have learnt how rocks are formed. Ask us about it! We used sweets to show how sediment under pressure becomes sedimentary rock such as slate. With heat from the Earth’s core, (or our hands) the sedimentary rock morphs into metamorphic rock. Finally, with the help of a microwave, we heated our metamorphic rock until it turned into sizzling magma. As this cooled, it perfectly demonstrated how igneous rock is formed, in a much shorter time span than millions of years!
Everyone is super excited about our trip on Tuesday! Please remember packed lunches and coats, hats and sunscreen depending on the weather.
