Music

Curriculum Intent

In accordance with our School Values of Kindness, Resilience, Resourcefulness and Creativity we aim to deliver a Music Curriculum which engages, inspires and challenges pupils. With a specific focus on promoting Creativity, children will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to interpret, compose, rehearse and perform their own music using a range of instruments.

All pupils at Westover have every opportunity to engage with a full and varied music curriculum.  They will know how music contributes to the culture, creativity and wealth of Portsmouth and the UK.

If children and families so wish, they can have the opportunity to experience extra music tuition from Rocksteady where they learn an instrument and perform as part of a rock band.

Throughout their time at Westover, we aim for all children to visit a theatre to experience a live performance. They will also be given the opportunity to perform at a theatre with Portsmouth Music Hub as part of their Infant Voices Festival.

Music Development Plan

Some children from Year 2 and Year 4 enjoyed singing Christmas carols on the Guildhall with a live brass band.

Pufferfish and Dolphins performed a fantastic Christmas nativity.
