Our story books over the last few weeks have been You Chose Fairytales and Mixed-up Fairytales. The children have thoroughly enjoyed creating their own characters, character houses and the food they’d eat on their journeys.

We have been recapping our initial sounds we have looked at across the year and finding those in our names and around the room.

In our math’s corner we have focused heavily on number again. The children have had to match shadows to numicon, counting the holes as the match them, adding and subtracting people on the bus and finding representations for numbers given.

We have got creative in the art area making playdoh food for out fairytale character, built houses for our characters in the junk modelling and explored colour mixing in the paint to create butterfly pictures.

The children had an exciting end to the week when we released our butterflies. Over the last few weeks, the children have looked at the life cycle of a butterfly and the stages of its life. We were very excited watching them leave and go on to their next journey.
