In Dolphins this week, rehearsals for the Nativity are in full swing! We have now sent home your child’s lines and a letter about their costume. All children in Year 1 will be narrators so any Christmas jumpers/head accessories etc will be great for their roles!
Across our morning tasks and handwriting this week, we have really been working on our bs and ds! We have been looking at how to identify and write both letters.
b = down the bear’s back and around its belly
d = around the bear’s belly and up its back
In phonics, we have learnt four new sounds which are split digraphs.
a-e = snake
i-e = prize
o-e =stone
u-e = cute
We have also learnt four new tricky words:
could
would
should
our
In our writing, we have learnt how to differentiate between statements and questions, looking at whether we need a full stop or a question mark.
In maths, we have been looking at doubles and halves as well as odd and even numbers.
Please continue to read with your children at home and learn their lines for the nativity. They will have these on the day but it is always best to learn them so that they are clear on how to pronounce words that we may not have learnt the sounds for.
In History next week we will be discussing toys that our parents and grandparents played with. It would be great if you could have these conversations and maybe even bring in a list of toys next Wednesday for us to discuss and explore.
Also, we have a lot of missing jumpers. At the end of each day, Mrs Ford and I hand out the jumpers in the jumper box. Some are named, some are not. Please could you check your child’s jumpers are named and have a little look if the jumper your child is wearing is theirs. Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend.
