Summer Term…so far!

May 8, 2026

The Summer term has certainly started with a bang in Pufferfish, and the children have been wonderfully busy with lots of exciting learning opportunities.

In mathematics, the children have been brilliantly challenging themselves. They have been working hard on writing number sentences, exploring one more and one less within numbers from 10–20, and representing numbers in a variety of ways using numerals and concrete resources. It has been fantastic to see their confidence and mathematical understanding grow.

We have also been making the most of the better weather by taking lots of learning outdoors. The children have enjoyed creating bug hotels, drawing from observation, and building larger structures, developing both their creativity and teamwork skills while exploring the world around them.

This week brought a particularly shocking surprise! We arrived in the classroom to find a crime scene! Chairs were upturned, oats scattered across the floor, and a mysterious pink bow left behind. The children worked together as investigators, carefully examining the evidence. They filled in police reports detailing what they found, who might have seen something, and what clues were left at the scene. Their investigations led them to create “Wanted” posters for Goldilocks, who they confidently deduced was the prime suspect!

In reading, the children are continuing to make great progress. Please continue to read regularly at home, as we are now moving onto longer words and developing fluency as readers. Reading books have not been changed this week due to the short week; however, the children will bring new books home next week once they have completed their three reads at school.

Have a lovely sunny weekend!
