We are so excited to welcome all of the children to Pufferfish Class on Monday and begin what we know will be a wonderful year of learning, growth and fun together.
Starting a new class can be an exciting time, but we also understand that it can bring a mixture of emotions for both children and parents. Please be assured that we will be there to support every child as they settle into their new routine, helping them to feel safe, happy and confident in their new environment.
A Few First-Day Reminders
To help the first day run as smoothly as possible, please ensure your child brings:
Their water bottle
Their book bag
Their PE kit
Appropriate outerwear for the weather
PE kits will remain in school throughout the half term and will be sent home periodically for washing.
Timings for the First Week
A reminder of the timings for our phased start:
Monday 7th: 8:30am – 11:30am
Tuesday 8th: 8:30am – 1:15pm
Wednesday 9th onwards: Full-time attendance
Lunches
Please take some time to look at the school lunch menu online with your child before they start. Talking through the available options at home can help them feel more confident when making their choice at school.
Each morning during registration, we will encourage the children to select their lunch option for the day and will be on hand to support them if needed.
Please Label Everything
We kindly ask that all items of clothing and belongings are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This includes:
Cardigans and jumpers
T-shirts and polo shirts
Trousers, shorts and skirts
Coats
PE kit items
Water bottles and lunch boxes
Spare Clothes
It would be really helpful if children could have a spare pair of underwear and socks in their PE kit bag. Accidents can happen, particularly when children are settling into a new routine, and having spare items available allows us to support them quickly and discreetly. Any used items will be sent home on the same day.
Supporting Your Child
If your child is feeling a little nervous about starting school, that’s completely normal. A confident goodbye, reassurance that you will be back at the end of the day, and maintaining a positive tone can make a big difference. We will take great care of them and help them settle as quickly as possible.
Likewise, if you are feeling a little emotional, please know that this is completely normal too. Starting school is a significant milestone, and we are looking forward to working in partnership with you to make this a positive and happy experience for your child.
Meet the Teacher
I look forward to seeing parents and carers on Friday at 3:15pm for our Meet the Teacher session. This will be a lovely opportunity to learn more about life in Pufferfish Class and ask any questions you may have.
Thank you for your support. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone on Monday!
