Thank you to those of you who have helped provide some cardboard/cardboard boxes so far! The more we have, the more materials we have to build our habitats.
This week has been super busy! We have taken a real focus on capital letters in both our writing lessons and handwriting. We have focused on capital letters for names as names of people and places are very important.
In maths, we have explored both 2-D and 3-D shapes, introducing some new vocabulary like edges, faces, vertices/vertex and surface. We have built towers using 3-D shapes, exploring that they will only be stackable if both surfaces are flat. We even learnt that a square is a rectangle, and what we would usually label a rectangle, is actually an oblong! Hearing them use their star words whilst explaining their thinking and reasoning has been fantastic!
In science, we learnt about different habitats and learnt a song where we joined in with the chorus. We sorted different animals into the correct habitats, thinking about what they would need to survive: food, water, air, shelter and somewhere to raise their young.
In singing assemblies, we have been learning ‘Cauliflowers Fluffy’ and ‘The Harvest Samba’ to prepare us for some singing with KS2 to celebrate the Harvest Festival. Our dance moves are very impressive!
We are looking forward to seeing you at our exit point next Thursday at half past 2!
It’s definitely beginning to feel like autumn now with the wind and rain.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Hathway and Mrs MacWhirter
