Autumn – Week 4

September 27, 2025

We’ve had such a fun and busy week in Pufferfish, and I’m excited to share a little peek into what’s been happening in our classroom.

This week, we concluded our Drawing Club journey with “The Cat, the Mouse and the Runaway Train” during a delightfully messy afternoon of jelly play! The children had so much fun exploring the jelly’s texture as they used it to stop the train in its tracks.

In maths, we started exploring counting forwards and backwards using a magic number stick. The children were incredibly helpful, teaching me how to order the numbers. Even when I tried to trick them by removing a number, they were right on the case, quickly identifying which one was missing!

I’m so proud of how well the class has settled into their new routine of independently completing a morning job in groups at their tables. Our group names are Jellies, Corals, Bubbles, Shells, and Pearls. Ask your child which group they are in and see if they can remember!

Next week, we will begin our next Drawing Club adventure with “Mrs Armitage on Wheels” by Quentin Blake. We will create self-portraits to proudly display in our classroom, start the process of our Kandinsky paintings, and continue learning new songs in our music lessons.

We are working hard to support the children in their growing independence. To make things simpler for them, I kindly ask that children only bring their book bags, coats, and water bottles to school. This way, they can independently hang up their items in the morning and collect them at home time. I have sent home a few backpacks this week, and these can remain at home now. Any spare clothing has been added to the children’s PE bags to streamline things.

The children are currently enjoying junk modelling, so I would appreciate any donations toward our supplies. This can include anything from small empty cardboard boxes, cereal boxes, empty drink bottles, to yoghurt pots.

Thank you for your support, and I am looking forward to another great week!
