The penultimate week of the second autumn half term in Dolphins and we are still working super hard!
In English, we are building up to writing character descriptions about the Tear Thief. We have looked at capital letters, full stops and adjectives, ensuring our adjectives are exciting and we are capitalising starts of sentences and proper nouns as well as making sure our full stops are of appropriate size all while focusing on handwriting and letter formation.
In Maths, we have explored the ‘make ten’ strategy for addition and subtraction within 20. Using multilink, we have been resilient in using a tens frame to help us. We have even explored its use through a word problem!
In Phonics, we are consolidating all our Year 1 learning so far focusing on our learnt Phase 5 graphemes and tricky words whilst still revisiting our GPCs and tricky words from Year R.
On Tuesday afternoon, we enjoyed the Rocksteady concert where three of our dolphins (Nestor, Roman and Kadee) all became rockstars! Well done to the three of them! Letters will be going out if your child would like to join however, we are aware of a long Year 1 waiting list!
On Friday afternoon, we performed our Nativity to the whole school! We listened out for timings and made sure we were loud and clear to the rest of the school. We are really looking forward to performing to you on Monday morning or Tuesday afternoon. Tickets have been sent home.
We have one more week left before we break up for Christmas! Next week, alongside performing our nativity, we plan on consolidating our learning from this half term but with a Christmas spin!
Have a lovely weekend.
