Dolphins have had lots of exciting learning this week.
In Phonics, our new graphemes are:
/u/ o-e o ou some mother young
/z/ se cheese
/s/ se ce mouse fence
/ee/ ey donkey
Our new tricky words are:
thought, through, friend, work
In English, we completed our first independent write. We wrote our own alien narratives that had a beginning, middle and end. Our aliens crash landed somewhere on Earth, met humans/animals and then were rescued by their families. The children did a great job of using their plans and other resources to help them and have really shown off what they have learnt in writing so far.
In Maths, we have revisited addition and subtraction focusing on efficient strategies like related facts, ‘Make Ten’, near doubles and counting on/back. Dolphins showed true resilient and some were able to reason why certain strategies were more efficient for certain questions.
In PSHE, we looked at staying safe online. We looked at sharing photos, passwords and online gaming.
We have spent some time each afternoon rehearsing for Infant Voices, including the songs: Bombay Rock, Spinnaker Salsa, Puss In Boots and The Vet.
On Tuesday 10th February, we will have our exit point. We hope to see you all there. We will be asking you to help us with our paper play learning of sculptures in art. If anyone has any spare newspaper/wrapping paper we could use for this, we would really appreciate it if it could be brought in in the lead up.
Have a lovely weekend.
