Summer 2 Week 2

June 16, 2025

It’s been a successful week in Penguin Class.

In particular thinking about our writing where we planned and wrote instructions to make our own medicine for George (from the book, George’s Marvellous Medicine!!) Your children used time conjunctions, adverbs and expanded noun phrases to make the instruction detailed and clear for the reader.

In Maths, we continued with learning about capacity and volume, experimenting with different volumes by using the scales.

In Science, we planted LOADS of seeds to observe over time to compare their heights and discover what a plant needs to survive and grow.

We started our new Geography topic comparing life in the UK with life in Zambia which will linked beautifully with our upcoming text ‘Lila and the secret of rain.’

We have also begun our final art unit on sculpture and how the artist Rachel Whitehead uses clay to create shape and form. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring how to shape and mould clay using our hands and tools to make marks.
