A brilliant few weeks in Turtles Class and they have all settled in lovely! The class have retained their Year 5 knowledge of the maths curriculum and we are seeing week-on-week improvement in their weekly arithmetic papers. In English, we have been working on imperative verbs and commands in preparation to write a set of instructions. The children produced some fantastic recipes of their own choice of foods and it was so lovely to see their creativity shine through in these!
In our afternoons, we have been looking at Antarctica – specifically looking at animals and their adaptations. We also linked this to our maths knowledge of negative numbers when looking at the temperatures. We created a monochrome, cubism-inspired tag using charcoal and masking tape in Art, based around the work of Picasso. We also (yes it is super early!) designed and created our Christmas cards which will be ready for pre-order next week!
To finish the week off, almost every child brought in their homework, showing their fantastic attitude to Year 6. Well done Turtles!
