Now that we’re in the third week of Year 5, routines are starting to be embedded more and more. We have been focusing really hard on our 3 school rules of being safe, ready and respectful and what this looks like in a classroom environment to ensure we can maximise the total teaching and learning time.
In English and Reading, we are now fully invested in Skellig and finding out where the creature has come from that has been living in the garage of Michael’s new family home. Next week, we will be plan and write our very first independent write: a house advertisement.
In Maths, we have nailed rounding to various amounts (10, 100, 1,000 and even 10,000) using the circling and underlining method – this is what the homework is this week so please ensure your child is completing this using the crib sheet – also stuck in their homework books – to be successful. Our Friday arithmetic scores are also improving every week and we have now moved from the Year 4 paper to the Year 5 paper.
In art, we made our Christmas cards which felt extremely weird seeing as we are only in September! These will be sent out next week with the option for you to purchase in different styles.
