Wow! Our new dolphins have done a fabulous job of settling into Year 1. They have absolutely blown my mind!
Hi, I’m Miss Hathway and every week I will be sharing with you what we have been learning over the past week.
Firstly, I wanted to let you know our learning for this half term.
Phonics – Refreshing Phase 3 and 4 before moving onto Phase 5

This week, we were left a note by alien Beegu who has crash landed on Earth. We have explored the story as well as looked at capital letters.
In Maths, we have begun looking at numbers within 10 where we have counted sets of objects, represented numbers within ten on a tens frame and recognised number bonds to five and six.
In Science, we looked at animals we find at a pond and what a habitat is. In Geography, we looked at the difference between rural and urban areas. In PSHE, we explored why we have classroom rules. In Computing, we looked at technology in our classroom. In Art, we explored the colour wheel, mixing primary colours to become secondary colours.
I am very much looking forward to what the rest of the year will bring!
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Hathway and Mrs MacWhirter
