Over the past few weeks, we have been really focusing on our handwriting. We have worked super duper hard at sitting our letters on the line, forming the correct shapes, spacing and size. We also think about our P checks: posture, pencil, paper and pressure. Please could remind your children on ‘P checks’ and ‘S factors’ when completing their homework (they will know what I mean!) so that we can push progress further.
We visited the Winchester Science Centre this week. The children behaved fantastically whilst having lots of fun and learning loads. We started with a workshop on minibeasts where we observed moths, their wings under microscopes and even beetles and mealworms! We then visited The Planetarium where we felt like we were in a rocket, looking at the stars and planets in our solar system and beyond. In the afternoon, we explored the upstairs and downstairs exhibits where we got to touch, pull, push and even scream to test out lots of scientific theories. Silly Miss Hathway forgot to bring the iPad so there were no photos but the tiredness we felt the following day shows we had a great time!
As well as handwriting, we are really pushing phonics at the moment to ensure we pass the check. Please could you continue to practise with your children as part of their homework.
We have done lots of painting recently too, using watercolours to create landscapes in the sunshine.
Two more weeks to go!
Have a great weekend.
