What a hard-working first week of the new term we have had! In English and History, we have begun to explore The Romans. We are building up to writing a news report on the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii. Sea Otters have worked extremely resiliently and attentively to master the skill of subordinating clauses. They have experimented with their placement, as well as the use of different conjunctions. In Maths, we have been resilient when learning short division. We even worked superbly in groups, using all four operations where we were able to put the method of short division in place to solve a problem. In Science, we have defined and identified the producers, prey and predators within food chains whilst also exploring whether they are carnivores, herbivores or omnivores.
Over the course of the week, Miss Hathway and Mrs Lloyd have paid close attention to the kindness in Sea Otters. Each week, each class will earn up to 10 points which will go towards two pet guinea pigs for Westover, as well as everything they need to survive! Sea Otters have earnt 6/10 for Week 1…a good starting point but can definitely be built on!
