Spring 2 Week 1

February 28, 2025

It has been wonderful welcoming the whole class back this week. This term our focus is growing, we will be looking at how food, plants and animals grow. Next week we will begin to plant some vegetable seeds and observe their growth over time.

Maths this week has been fairly tricky. We are looking at multiple groups of 10. We are now working towards counting to 50 along with recognising how many groups of 10 are found within 50.

We are now learning about a new artist, Piet Mondrian. We now know that he was an abstract artist that would often paint whilst listening to music. This week we listened to a range of music to reflect how it made us feel and how it impacted our artwork. We will continue to look at a range of paintings created by Mondrian over then next few weeks.

Yesterday the children came home with a sponsorship letter, we are raising money to develop the outside area. There were lots of suggestions of things we need such as tennis balls, footballs, a pirate ship and a swimming pool!!

This week we have introduced reading badges to the class. This is a whole school initiative. If you child reads every day and you record it in their reading records, then they can earn themselves a point. The maximum number of points they can earn each week is 7. The books can include bedtime stories and their reading book.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine if it lasts.
