Spring 2 week 5

Pufferfish were very excited to discover that the carrots have  started to grow. We will keep a close eye on them over the next few weeks. Hopefully we will be able to see the roots and the carrot growing. Not only are the carrots growing but the sunflowers have also started to grow. We watched them carefully this week and drew what we could see. Hopefully by May half term they will be ready to take home, and I can finally relax that they are not under my watch.

In maths we are continuing to look at the number 11-15. We are thinking about 1 more and 1 fewer. We are encouraging the children to use sentences such as 1 more than 11 is 12. 1 fewer than 15 is 14. This can be a little confusing which is why we spend a few weeks playing with these numbers.

Our current text is ‘Egg drop’. It’s about an egg that wanted to fly. We will be creating a flying machine next week, so we are asking for donations of junk modeling resources. This could include toilet tubes, toothpaste boxes, tea bag boxes. All the things that take up room in your recycling bins.

We are continuing to explore ‘new life’ as our RE topic. This week the children listened to ‘The first Easter story’. The children enjoyed sharing how they will be celebrating Easter. We also discussed how some people don’t celebrate Easter and that’s ok.

Next week we have the Easter bonnet parade. Please bring your child’s bonnet in at drop off, we will keep them safe until the parade starts.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend in the sunshine and enjoy Mother’s Day and the end of Ramadan.
