We are back for the final term and what a busy start we have had! Without a doubt, this half term is going to be jam-packed with so much to do in so little time!
In English, we have begun reading ‘Beowulf’ by Michael Morpurgo. Beowulf tells the story of a devilish monster named Grendel who haunts the land of Denmark. The children are building on skills in order to write a news report that reports on the events of Grendel’s eventual demise. This week, we have explored the features of a news report, present perfect form, direct speech and formal language. It has been fantastic to see the children so engrossed by the gruesome tale.
In Maths, we are solving problems with money and measure. This week, we have explored units of measure as well as conversions between equivalent lengths (mm, cm and m). It has been interesting to see the children applying their everyday understanding of mass, capacity and length to different problems.
