Summer 1 Week 5 – Wild Beach School

May 22, 2025

We had a great time on Hayling Island, missing most of the rain but still getting a bit wet and sandy!

Upon arrival, the class were asked to collect a group of various items. They had to search amongst the seaweed and the pebbles to find items matching certain criteria. We found so many different types of shells, rocks and even some little creatures. The children enjoyed listening to the beach school team discuss the different items. Sea Otters already knew so much about the items found on our beaches, whether that be shark egg casings or hag stones.

With their items, the children created museums, designing the layout using sand and even giving their museums a name!

After, we paddled in the sea, skimmed stones and tucked into lunch – a great way to end such a busy half term!

Next half term, the children will complete the multiplication times tables check so please encourage your child to practise on TTRS over half term.
