We hope you all had a fantastic Easter break. It has been great to see the children so motivated for their new learning.
In English we have started our new class book, Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo. The children have used Chapter 1 to consider life at boarding school in the early 1900s and how fortunate they are today that schooling has changed so much.
We have been using adverbs of cohesion to plan persuasive letters about why our narrator of the story should be allowed to come back home.
In Maths we have been looking at unit fractions. These fractions always have a numerator of 1. We have been learning how the denominator tells us how many equal groups we need. We will be continuing to develop our fraction knowledge over the coming weeks.
In Science we have begun learning about plants and what they need to grow. We have also introduced the Tudors as our history for this half term. Any weekend trips to Southsea Castle or the Dockyard would greatly support this learning.
