After an exhausting week last week, we have resumed to normal learning and are feeling a little tired but nevertheless resilient.
In English, we explored the use of show, not tell in monologues. This is where the writer shows how a character feels by describing their facial expressions and body language rather than stating the feeling the character is experiencing. The children produced some fantastic examples that highlighted the excitement, nerves and anger that Viking, Biorn, experienced when he reached Valhalla. Miss Hathway almost had to send the whole class to the silver book as every piece of writing was that fabulous!
In Maths, we have continued solving measure and money problems systematically. We have used our workings of column addition and multiplication to help us solve these problems through trial and improvement.
We have had some fantastic PE lessons this week, both enjoyed in the sunshine. On Tuesday, we focused on overarm throwing and rehearsed our learning of batting and long barrier. On Friday afternoon, we joined Year 5 in a match of rounders! It was so much fun.
Have a restful weekend in the sun before the last week of half term!
