Week 2 in Penguins

September 11, 2025

Wow! Our first full week complete!

Your children have worked really hard and, are no doubt, exhausted.

In English, we have been looking at Jim and the Beanstalk and it’s been great to hear them making links to their learning in Pufferfish to make predictions. They are currently writing a short diary entry in the role of Jim considering his thoughts and feelings as he climbs up the beanstalk and helps the giant.

In Maths, we have been looking at numbers to 100 and learning how to partition into tens and ones, then use this to create addition equations.

In Art this week, we have begun looking at different types of lines and how we can use 2B and 6B pencils to draw straight, curved, broken and spiral lines. Check out our photos below for some great examples.

Geography this week has been recapping our knowledge of the 7 continents and then zooming in on Europe and discussing different countries we have visited. We are then turning our attention to the UK and learning the 4 countries and their capital cities.

Thank you to all those who attended the parents evening and for reading this far in my blog!!!

Just a reminder to please read with your child and complete the reading record. As I mentioned to a few parents yesterday, even just sharing a story together and your child listening to you is fantastic. Just complete the reading record and your child will earn stars and make amazing progress! Never under estimate the power of reading! It really does underpin everything we do in school.
