This week we have been so impressed with the learning attitudes to new concepts we are exploring in Maths! The class have loved learning about multiplication, exploring the commutativity of factors. Everyone has tried their best to represent multiplication as arrays, then finding the corresponding division facts to create fact families. We have all had a determined try at creating different bar models for each fact family.
In English we have continued to explore speech punctuation. The children are now applying their mastery to edit mispunctuated sentences. Most of us are quite confident in making sure we remember the comma after our reporting clause and making sure our direct speech always has a capital letter!
For our History unit, we have designed our own sarcophagus, inspired by that of Tutankhamun. We have started to look at different pharaohs over the ages and have thankfully found a way to remember the spelling of pharaoh! We have also explored hieroglyphics, creating our own cartouche. In the coming weeks we will be making our own canopic jars (for fillings other than organs!) and are starting to collect small clean jam jars with the label removed. Mustard sized jars are preferable.
