We have had such a lovely week in Year 6! First, we have really gone back to nail some basics in writing – looking at phrases, clauses and then adding in modal verbs, adverbs of possibility and even today uplevelling to conjunctive adverbs. The children are really keen to get their writing more sophisticated and have been using a more formal tone in preparation for writing a formal letter of complaint!
In Maths, we have begun looking at multiplication – beginning with square and cubed numbers, then working up towards short and long multiplication. We will be moving on to a new skill next week (long division!). As always, it is super important that the children have a good grasp of their times tables – for their homework this week, we have started a battle between years 5 and 6, so they can practise, practise, practise!
During our afternoons this week, the children had the pleasure of having Ms Stacey back with us! She worked with them on their French, looking at modes of transport. We also studied the history of Antarctica, writing letters as though we had been on an exhibition there! In Art this afternoon, we conducted research about Pablo Picasso, finding out about his life and experiences. The children are working on displaying this as a double page showcase all about the artist and their life.
